Our Work

The Daniel Calazans Foundation wants to help other families and individuals struggling with mental health and substance to navigate the system that involves diagnosis and treatment for mental health and substance abuse patients.

DCF believes in scientific-based information awareness, advocacy for more robust regulation, and innovation in therapies, remedies, and medical devices to evaluate and treat patients with symptoms of mental health and substance abuse.

Our approach is that both conditions are intertwined, and that other clinical conditions mimic symptoms of psychiatric illnesses leading to unnecessary medication that can lead to recreational use and abuse.

Comprehensive Diagnoses

Substance abuse and mental health conditions are tied together. By advocating for comprehensive diagnoses, we aim to prevent unnecessary and ineffective medication that can lead to substance abuse and further aggravate symptoms of emotional deregulation.

Community Education Campaigns

We understand that mental health and substance abuse have multiple facets. Through our community education campaigns, we plan to dig into these issues, create an open dialogue across multiple channels, and spread the word to traditional media.

Awards & Grants

We’re proud to offer grants and awards to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students involved with our mission. Through this funding, we aim to invest in the next generation of leaders who will be critical for ending the stigma of substance abuse, educating others, and researching treatments.
